He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert McDermott and Olive McDermott (Devine); and his sisters, Olive Kathy Hendrickson (Tom) and Margaret Clissold. He is survived by: his siblings, Ann Brown (Bill), Stephen McDermott (Mary Ann), Patrick McDermott, Maureen Marunczak (Walt), Cecelia McDermott, Mary Rodrigues, Daniel McDermott and Carole Burris (Greg); and his brother-in-law Andy Clissold. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hazel Park Youth Program.
