He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Tolonen and Amanda Tolonen (Seppanen); his wife Lillian Roberts; and his siblings, Lauri, Amanda, Johan, Gertrude, Linda, Albert "Bony", Wilbert "Pete", Irja, Elma and Ena.

He is survived by: his son John Tolonen (Debra Pyykkonen); his grandchildren, Selina Meiners (Martin), Alan, Mark Tolonen (Randi), Amber Gabranski (Josh) and Brian; and his great grandchildren, Caleb, Aidan and Zennah. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
