She was predeceased by: her parents, Ronald Buchanan and Virginia Buchanan; her stepmother Lenora May Buchanan; her children, Howard Schemke and Kathleen Buchanan; her granddaughter Natasha Deal; and her sister Virginia Dunning.
She is survived by: her children, Dawn Guitar of Rapid City, Gail Deal (Darryl) of Spring Hill, Florida, Janie Crane of Delaware, Ron Crane (Carrie) of Lexington and Tony Buchanan of Curran; and her siblings, Chuck Buchanan (Joyce) of Waters, Ronald Buchanan of Gaylord, Jim Buchanan (Polly) of Waters and Ulainee Lythgoe (Donald) of South Carolina. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
