He was predeceased by: his son Richard VanPatten; his parents, Herbert and Wanita; and his sister Shirley Garcia. He is survived by: his son Wanita VanPatten (Sproul); his wife Diane M. McKimmy of Atlanta; his children, Amy Jo Van Schagen (Mark) of Stanton and Timothy VanPatten (Shellie) of Six Lakes; his grandchildren, Nicole, Amber, Tiffany, Heather, Hona and Shane; and his sisters, Linda VanPatten of Charlotte and Becki Dodge of Lansing. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
