Robert M. Merkel Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert M. Merkel of Ann Arbor, Michigan, who passed away on September 27, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Robert M. Merkel to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ferdinand Merkel and Mary Merkel (Young); his sister Gertrude "Dot" Mennick; and his daughter-in-law Heidi Merkel. He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Collins); his children, Sara Bonesteel (Jonathan) of Ann Arbor, William R. Merkel of Arlington, VA, Dr. Edward T. Merkel (Aleza) of Canton, MI and Howard M. Merkel (Michaele) of Ann Arbor; his brother D. Patrick Merkel (Sandra) of Chelsea; and his siblings-in-law, James Collins (Florence) of Florida and Patricia Collins of Ohio. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 13th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, October 14th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (530 Elizabeth St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104).
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or Bowling Green University Arts Scholarship Fund.
