He is survived by: his mother Thalia Akard of Amarillo, Texas; his son Manuel Akard (Julia Ochoa-Corante) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; his siblings, Steve Akard and Melissa; his brother-in-law Kirk Njus; and his nieces and nephews, Garrett Njus, Gavin Njus (Calli), Micah Akard and Gabriella (Matt Olson).
