She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Herbert V. Johnson and Katherine Elizabeth Finley Johnson; and her grandmother Dora Corinne Adams Johnson. She is survived by: her husband William J. Thompson, Jr.; her children, Herbert Elliott Thompson (Edna) of Kalamazoo, Marlys Renee Thompson Deen, William Joseph Thompson, III and Monita Corinne Thompson; her grandchildren, Shanna Mari Thompson, Kadija Monita Deen, Ibrahim Fadlu Deen and Jonathan Thompson (Miriam); her great grandchildren, Kalvyn Zirker and Amanti Floyd-Deen; her nieces and nephews, Beverly Elaine Johnson, Angela Johnson Dorsey, Shelia Martin Rodgers, Peggy Blackinston, Daphne Haliburton, Shawn, Nicole Johnson, Henry V. Martin, Jr., Bobby Martin, Tyrone Martin, Marvin Martin of Memphis, Willie Lee Hall of Tennessee and Kenneth Hall of Dover; her siblings, Henry Martin, William Van Johnson, Carl Johnson and Minnie Mae Hall; her nephew Joey Johnson; and also, Donald Whitfeld, Teresa Whitfield, Makayla Whitfield and Lena Mitchell.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Nie Family Funeral Home, Liberty Road Chapel (3767 W Liberty Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
