He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Waltjen and Jane Waltjen; his wife Susanne Waltjen; his daughter Christine Weglowski; his daughter-in-law Bridget Waltjen; and his siblings, John Waltjen and Jacqueline "Jackie" Rutkowski.
He is survived by: his son Richard Waltjen; his son-in-law Greg Weglowski; his grandchildren, Jordan Waltjen, Alexander Waltjen, Carson Amezcua and Zackary Amezcua; his stepgrandson Christopher Dorsch (Susanne); and his close friend Marguerite Rysse.
