She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Benac and Fern Benac (Connon); her son Howard Nevins; her grandson Christopher McNaughton; and her siblings, Harold Benac (Velma), Wes Benac (Wilma), Ervin Benac (Mildred), Walt Benac (Irene), Willis Benac (Phyllis) and Mariette Benac.
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Nevins of Virginia, Maryette Cripps (Steve) of Alpena, Brenda Morey (Mike) of Traverse City and Kelli Bandstra of Grand Rapids; and also Cindy Nevins of Newburgh, Indiana..
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bannan Funeral Home (222 S 2nd Ave, Alpena, MI 49707). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Interment: Long Rapids Cemetery, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpena Boys and Girls Club in Darlene's memory.
