Rachel Jacquelin Kowalsky Obituary
Rachel J. Kowalsky, 94, of Alpena was called to her heavenly home on Monday, February 6, 2023.
Rachel was born January 12, 1929, in Canton, OH to the late Herbert and Winifred (Schroeder) Miller. On August 30, 1952, she married her helpmate, Dexter Kowalsky. Rachel was someone who was always eager to help others which lead her to her passion as a teacher. She started teaching down state in in the mid 50's and continued as she made her way up north teaching at Thunder Bay Junior High School and later at Ella White Elementary before retiring in the 90's. She received her bachelor's degree from Wayne State and went on to receive her master's degree from Eastern Michigan. Rachel was a very talented musician who could play anything with a keyboard. She was always active in her local church wherever she resided. Rachel was not only devoted to her family but devoted to her Christian faith as well. She was always happy to come along side others and see them grow in their faith. Rachel was a mother figure to numerous people, impacting the lives of many as she truly lived her faith. She will be dearly missed.
Rachel is survived by her 2 sons, Michael (Julie) Kowalsky, and Kevin (Alicia) Douglas, 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Kowalsky, Carolyn (Chris) Fix, Andrew (Misty) Douglas, Christopher (Chhamjee) Douglas, 8 great-grandchildren, Xander, Adelyn, and Annabelle Fix, and Aiden, Evan, Caylea, Peyton, and Colton Douglas. She was preceded in death by her husband Dexter, and her brother, Douglas Miller.
A celebration of Rachel's life will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 11am at New Life Christian Fellowship with Pastors Gary and Michelle Smith officiating. An hour of visiting will take place prior to the service. McWilliams Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
