He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Beland; his stepfather Arthur Connon; and his siblings, Jean King, Shirley Timm, Floyd Connon, Barbara Hansen, William Connon and Carol Gebauer.
He is survived by: his wife Kay (Kathryn Thurston); his sons, Scott Beland (Kathleen Massini), David Beland (Janet) and Steven Beland (Fay Sato-Beland); his grandchildren, Drew Beland (Sadie Rath), Sarah Beland (Alex Hofstrand), Willow Brook, Andrew Beland and Patrick Huseonica (Amanda); his great grandchildren, Carson, Kennedy and Quade; and his brother David Connon (Jean). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
