He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Szczukowski and Gladys Szczukowski (Carlson); his former wife Alice Skiba; his son Jack Datema; his granddaughter Rhonda Jaskolski; his great grandchildren, Tyler Szczukowski, Collin Medema and Ellory Medema; and his siblings, Marvis Sykes and Larry Szczukowski.

He is survived by: his wife Sally Datema (Blackburn); his children, Kathy Dickinson (Phil), Harry Szczukowski, Michael Szczukowski, Carol Hayes (Doug), Amy Kent (Steve), Mary Jo Datema, Laurie Radcliffe (Chris), Craig Datema (Lisa) and Scott Datema (Shannon); his grandchildren, TJ Dickinson (Erin), Jamie Sheffler (Kyle), Jenny Medema (Matt), Caitlyn Lapuz (Ton), Alan Szczukowski, Alexis Szczukowski, Elizabeth Szczukowski, Lindsay Hayes, Lauren King (Mike), Lexie Thomas (Erik), Spencer Hayes, Bradley Kent, Mackenzie Kent, Samantha Kent, Michael Datema (Jamie), Tiffany Bianco (Dave), Nicole Cermak (Jonathan), Brittin Schumaker (Adam), Ryan Radcliffe (Corissa), Erik Datema, Meghan Datema, Spencer Datema and Sarah Datema; and his sister-in-law Ann Szczukowski. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
