He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Zielinski and Grasylda Zielinski (Shukait); and his brother Edward. He is survived by: his brother Robert; his children, Bishop Chad Zielinski of Fairbanks, Susan McHarg (John) of Alpena, Todd Zielinski (Theresa) of Gaylord, Jana Hedglin (Doug) of Tawas City and Cirrae Heise (Tom) of Alpena; his grandchildren, Nevin, Garret McHarg, Joseph, Nathan, Anthony, John Paul, Maria, Andrew, Clare, Anna Zielinski, Lauren, Connor, Chelsea, Ethan Hedglin, Kirstin Zbytowski, Chase, Sydney and Allison Heise; and his wife Linda. He is also survived by his wife and children, but especially with his grandchildren.

This changed in March 2020 with the onset of COVID-19.
