He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas M. Chovanec and Agnes Chovanec (Jurasek); and his siblings, Bo Chovanec, Lillian Walters and Carl Chovanec.
He is survived by: his wife Alma Chovanec of Alma; his children, Tammy Fisher (Mike) of St. Louis, Sandy Sheldon (Scott) of Alma, Linda Huntoon of Alma and David Chovanec of Alma; his grandsons, Eric Sheldon, Joe Huntoon (Rachel), Tim Sheldon, Danny Huntoon and Xander Huntoon; and his son-in-law Cary Huntoon.
