It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Merton Warthman of Alma, Michigan, who passed away on January 25, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Warthman and Luella Warthman (Knipe); his former wife Donna J. Turner; his siblings, Willis, Marie, Fay, Clara, Earl, Lawrence, Helen, Eleanor, Garnet and Nola; and his grandchildren, Derek Whitney, Holly Moreland and Kerry Moreland.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Spach; his stepdaughters, Michelle Becker of Crystal, Christine Peterson of Alma and Deborah Ballard (Rich) of Sheridan; his grandchildren, Brandon Whitney, Chelsey Peterson (Rusty), Garrett Whitney (Kelly), Grant Moreland (Amber), Kylee Peterson, Abbey Moreland (Cal), Brent Peterson and Annikka Mills (Dallas); and his parents-in-law, Elmer Spach (Jenny), Beverly Link (Ron) and Glen Spach (Dolores). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant (5282 E. Airport Rd.), Community Baptist Church in Alma (1325 W. Superior St.) and Global Compassion Ministry.
