Dorothy Howe Swanson Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy Howe Swanson of Alma, Michigan, born in East Chicago, Indiana, who passed away on March 14, 2022 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Paul and Selma Helen Bedford (Kernen); her former husband Jack Howe; her husband Bob Swanson; her grandson Jeremy Freer; her brother Clifford Bedford; and her brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard Howe, Captain Robert Howe (Mary) and Navy.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kathy Freer (W. Michael) of Roscommon and Nancy Lefere (Pete) of Jackson; her stepchildren, Sally Plowman and Dr. Mark Swanson; and her sister-in-law Donna Howe. She is also survived by six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Dorothy's memory to the First Presbyterian Church, the Dorothy B. Swanson Endowed Scholarship at Alma College or the Gratiot County Animal Shelter.
