He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Shaffer and Orah Shaffer (Markham); his wife Dorothy Marie Barnes; and his brothers, Noel Shaffer and Karl Shaffer.
He is survived by: his children, Sue Hoekwater (Gary) of Shepherd, Pam Fraker (Kevin) of Perrinton and Dave Shaffer (Lori) of Alma; his grandchildren, Josh Shaffer (Lisa), Joe Shaffer (Melissa), Mindy Saxton (Kirk), Mike Shaffer, Heather Reda (Jamin), Julie Hunter (Michael), Kelly Wallace (David), Luke Fraker, Monica Schroeder (David) and Allison Hoekwater; and his sisters, Wanda O'Boyle and Fairy Lepley. He is also survived by 18 great grandchildren.
