She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Carter and Myrtle Carter; her husband Richard Gay Jr.; her daughter-in-law Sue Ann Gay; and her siblings, Marion Morris and Gib Carter.
She is survived by: her sons, Richard Gay III, Jeffery Gay and Timothy Gay. She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
