He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Phillips and Betty Phillips (Burroughs); and his brother Ronnie Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Phillips (Moline); his children, Benjamin Phillips, Tasha VandenBerg (Orien), Becky Gorton (Matt), Mike Dewitt (Robin), Cathy Christman (Jack), Susan Bradshaw (Doug), Tim Christman (Heather), Jennifer Bellanger and David Christman; and his brothers, Jim Phillips, Tom Phillips, Mike Phillips and Bob Phillips. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
