He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Walters and Isabella Walters (Sadler); his wife Phyllis Walters (Beattie); his children, Richard Walters, Jr. and Claudette Walters; and his siblings, Margaret Eberhard, Edward Walters (Joyce) and Donald Walters.
He is survived by: his children, Lucy Strasser (Rex), Dave Walters and Michelle Walters; his grandchildren, Nicole, Brandy, Dorothy, Kurt, Tammy, Travis, Kris, Ronald, Cody and Cory; and his siblings, Robert Walters, James Walters (Karen) and Bonneta Hummel. He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
