He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Joseph Dame, Sr. and Marilyn Joyce Dame (McBrien); and his former wife Terri Dame. He is survived by: his spouse Victoria Leigh Dame (Kleinbrink); his children, Chad Dame (Janna), Jennifer Emmons (David), Richard Dame, Jr. (Karen) and Danielle Gorman (Shawn); his siblings, David Dame (Deb), Nora Johnson (Dave), Colleen Marhugh (Denny), Mary Lutke (Bill), Nelson Dame (Sonya), Dan Dame, Dennis Dame (Reynell) and Ed Dame (Sue); his grandchildren, Kurtis, Travis, Gabbie, Garrett, Livia, Sophia, Ethan, Noah, Luke and Lydia; and his great grandchild Dawson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Wounded Warrior Project are suggested.
