He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Whitney and Christina Whitney (Hoke); his wife Donna Whitney (Kelley); and his siblings, Gloria Gates and Rudy Whitney.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Harrington (Mike), Lyle Whitney, Candy Miller (Bob), Denise Curtis (Mike) and Sally Ruga (Bill); his grandchildren, Meagan Weaver (Chad), Shane Harrington, Nathan Miller (Megan), Mellissa Hodge (Chris), Joshua Curtis, Emma Ruga and Evan Ruga; and his great grandchildren, Haddie and Miller Hodge. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in Edward's name to the Wings of Hope Hospice (530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010) or the First Presbyterian Church (200 Cutler St., Allegan, MI 49010).
