He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Holmes and Lucille Smith; and his wife Norine Adams. He is survived by: his children, Doug Holmes, Steve Holmes, Julie Britt and Vicki Holmes Ott. He is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
