She was predeceased by: her parents, Otis Hill and Martha Hill; her brother Otis Hill Jr. (Evelyn); and her nieces and nephews, Gwendolyn Johnson and Niecey Hill.

She is survived by: her husband Lewis "Jack" Avant of Albion, MI; her children, Richard "Casmo" Johnson Jr. of Albion, MI and Bertha Dunn (Carey) of Aubrey, TX; her grandchildren, Anthony Austin (Shlawnda) of Powder Springs, GA and Aneesha Jackson (Orlander) of Little Elm, TX; her great grandchildren, Dalonté Presnall-Austin of Sandusky, OH, Mahogany Austin of Flint, MI, Dalorian Presnall of Flint, MI, Ariana Davis, Caitlan Davis and Evan Jackson of Little Elm, TX; her siblings-in-law, Etta Beasley (Charles) of Mount Clemens, MI, Janet Dees (Jeff) of Brewton, AL, Louise Johnson (Jesse) of Eastpointe, MI and Sanford Avant (Mary) of Brewton, AL; and her godchildren, Marchelle, Marshanti of Albion, MI and Marshad of Albion, MI. She is also survived by her husband and son as caregivers, other relatives, and friends.
