He was predeceased by: his grandmothers, Mary Dozier and Almetra Wiford; his brother Allen James Hopson; his great-nieces, Christianna and Jayana Hopson; and his pets, Elli (Iguana), Lady and Pit Bull.

He is survived by: his children, Mercedes Mosher of Lansing, Twyon Hospon of North Carolina, Quavonte Wilford of Lansing and Christian Mason of Cleveland; his mother Virginia Hopson of Lansing; his siblings, Tya Peterson (David) of Jackson, Ashana Richardson of Lansing, Casanova Richardson of Lansing and Dominique Hopson of Jackson; his niece Lazell; his aunt Debra Wilford of Lansing; and his uncles, William (Patricia) of Lansing and Allen White (Janice). He is also survived by six grandchildren; four step-children.
