It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe Davis McGear (Albion, Michigan), born in Fayetteville, Tennessee, who passed away on February 26, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam McGear and Martha Dyer; his grandparents, David Dyer and Laura Dyer; his son Glen McGear; and his stepson Randy Ragland.

He is survived by: his cousin Ersken Hampton; his wife Esther McGear; his son Joey McGear of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.; his stepchildren, Stafford Cobb of Texas, Pamela Hicks, Kerri Hicks of Fayetteville, Tonya Simmons (Tyrone), Joseph Ragland and Bryan Ragland (Jennifer) of Lansing, Michigan.; his grandchildren, Steven Cobb (Nicole), Stafford Lamark Cobb of Texas, Takara Hicks and Landon Hicks of Fayetteville, Georgia; his siblings-in-law, Sylvia Lawhorn (Bobby) of Georgia, Brenda Onuosa of Detroit, Michigan, Delmos Clark, Uanita Ray (Donald) of Jackson, Michigan and Rev. Jacqueline Humphrey (Charles) of Lansing, Michigan.; and his close friends, Ida Rider, Robbie Patterson, Mattie Harris, Essie Curtis and Rev. Fred Alexander (Frankie) of Albion, Michigan.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
