He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Manthei and Thelma Manthei (Hubbel); his former wife Beverly Manthei; his sons, James Manthei, Jr. and Michael Manthei; his stepchildren, Deborah, James Herwarth and David Hurdelbrink; and his siblings, Robert Manthei, Richard Manthei, Gerald Manthei and Pauline Ruppel.
He is survived by: his wife Dolores Manthei (Rumsey); his sons, John Manthei (Janet) and Tom Manthei (Robin); his daughter-in-law Helen Manthei; his stepchildren, Dana Anderla (Terry), Dawn Hawks, Dagmar McKinney (David) and Diana Siscoe (Robert); and his brother Paul Manthei (Judy). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church (100 Luther Blvd, Albion, MI 49224). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
