He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Hoyt Sr. and Ella Mae Hoyt (Lake). He is survived by: his wife Brenda Collier; his children, James Lenardson of Homer, Brandee Hoyt (Steve Vanhorn) of Homer, Alissa Lenardson of Albion and Travis Hoyt of Albion; his grandchildren, Elayna, Emily, Thomas, Kaylee, Caden, James, Georgia and Travis; his great grandchild Nova; and his siblings, Linus Hoyt (Penny), Jerry Hoyt (Luanne), Becky Miller (Thom), Peggy Eakins and Barbara Hoyt.
