It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Erwin Earl Houthoofd of Akron, Michigan, who passed away on August 22, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Julius Houthoofd; his former wife Bertha Houthoofd (Jacoby); his brothers, Andrew Houthoofd, Orville Houthoofd and Leland Houthoofd; his parents-in-law, Henry and Lydia Jacoby; and his son-in-law Allen Jones.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Lydia Houthoofd; his children, Diann VanHoost-Coffin, Mary Lou Jones, Rodney Houthoofd (Linda), Lary Houthoofd, Sue Schaus (Scott) and Terri Neuman (John); his grandchildren, Michael VanHoost (Carol), Kurt VanHoost (Dawn), Brooke VanHoost (Lyle Keyes), Maicie Jones, Bretton Jones, Daniel Houthoofd (Jenna), Karen Wagner (Ben), Sara Russell (Mitchell), Erica Weaver (BJ), Lary David Houthoofd, Katie Richardson (Evan), Karlee Stanley (Gerald), Kelsey Reymore (Brett), Kendall Schaus and Gabrielle Neuman; and his brother Lyle Houthoofd (Sally).

Memorial contributions may be directed to Bay Shore Camp, Wisner United Methodist Church, and Brian's House.
