Barbara Jean Downing Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jean Downing of Akron, Michigan, who passed away on September 19, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruben Harrington and Minnie Harrington of Akron; and her siblings, Arlene Ruppal, Silvia Ruppal, Marion Lenhard, Wayne and John Harrington.
She is survived by: her husband Dennis Downing; her children, Dianna Schafer (Jim) of Castle Rock and Tim Downing of Sebewaing; her grandchildren, Adam Schafer (Danielle) of Castle Rock, Mark Schafer of Castle Rock and Loxely Downing of England; her great grandchildren, Dennis Schafer, Peyton, Morris Schafer, Lilli and Jaxin Mercer; her sisters-in-law, Emily Harrington of Reese and Betty Downing of Bay City; and her friends, Donna Rayl and Linda Zechmeister. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In light of the current COVID-19 situation, a private graveside service will be held for immediate and extended family at the Demorest Cemetery in Akron Twp.
Memorial contributions to consider are Medallion Village Hospice and the Sanilac County Child Advocacy Center.
