He is survived by: his wife Rebecca; his children, James Rutherford (Meghan) of Adrian, Breanna Rutherford (Justin Burgess) of Jackson, Wyatt Rutherford of Adrian, Christopher Otis (Krystle) of Jonesville and Andrew Tasker; his siblings, Tina Summers and Tom Rutherford (Teresa) of Hillsdale; and his grandchildren, Ashton, Aaron, Avrie and Cameron.

Memorial contributions can be made in honor of James to benefit the Lenawee Humane Society.
