It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Rhett Austell Jr. of York, Maine, born in Middletown, New York, who passed away on August 15, 2021, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Van Etten Stivers and Robert Rhett Austell; his wife Carol Holly Austell; his daughters, Elizabeth Straight of Briarcliff Manor, NY and Sarah Cart of Key Largo, FL; his daughter-in-law Barbara Austell of Haverford, PA.; his stepsons, Michael McCarty of Malibu, CA, Peter McCarty of Northridge, CA and Justin McCarty of Peninsula, OH; his sister-in-law Anne Austell of Albuquerque, NM; his former wife Madeleine Pohlmann (Lynn); his brothers, Stivers and Jan; and his son Robert Rhett Austell III. He was also cherished by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, eight step-grands and two step-great-grandsons.
