He was predeceased by: his parents, Kyla Vantilla Shackelford Bumgardner and Ernest Paul Bumgardner; and his children, Brenda Bumgardner and Bernd Freund. He is survived by: his wife Susanne Baumgardner (Thibodeau); his stepchildren, Corina, Michael, Greg Bumgardner and Wolfgang Freund; his children, Norbert Freund, Amy Labbe, Anna Mathieu and Emily Knowles; and his grandchildren, Izaiah, Violet, Ezra and Thomas.
