He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Freedom Rand and Helen Rand (Staples); his wife Jean McDowell; his friends, Owen, Bernie, Phil, Bill, Dean and Alan; his daughters, Linda Blodgett (Scott), Debbie Moody (Kurt) and Brenda Rand; his grandchildren, Chris Blodgett, Josh Blodgett (Meghan), Kyle Maines, Taylor Maines (Corey Swan), Amanda Moody and Kara Moody; his great grandchildren, Landen Blodgett, Connor Blodgett and Callie Blodgett; his sister Joyce Orff of Wilton; his parents-in-law, Betsy Skedgell, Jeff, Nancy Nichols, Joan, Peter Washburn of Readfield, Bernard and Ida McDowell (Miller); and his brothers-in-law, Ruel Orff and Bob Skedgell. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
