He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Matthews and Myrtle Matthews (McLearn); and his siblings, Lee, Russell, Robert Matthews, Vivian Olsen, Florence Matthews, Mary Paulin, Elisabeth Fredrick, Wilma Matthews and Jean Thomas.
He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Carrier (Steve) and Donald J. Matthews (Vickie); his grandchildren, Jessica Matthews Thayer (Andrew), Nicholas J. Matthews (Nadja), Christopher E. Matthews and Joshua Carrier; and his great grandchildren, Seth Therault, Samual J. Thayer and Emilia N. Thayer.
