He was predeceased by: his brother James McElman. He is survived by: his wife Maria J. Gillis; his children, Bruce McElman of Woolwich and Jane McElman of Woolwich; his daughter-in-law Stefanie McElman of Boothbay Harbor; and his grandchildren, Ashleigh McElman of Maine, Georgia, Blake McElman (Alexandra) of Woolwich and Brooke Casale (Dominic) of Richmond. He is also survived by two nieces and four nephews.
