Though George may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those George touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William A. Merritt and Theresa V. Merritt (Brick); and his siblings, William F. Merritt and Barbara V. Torpey of Lowell, Massachusetts.. He is survived by: his wife Martha Merritt (McHale) of Wells, Maine.; his children, Ellen Nixon (Eric) of Wells, Maine, Kate Torrey (David) of Amherst, Massachusetts, Paula Adams (William) of Ludlow, Massachusetts and George W. Merritt, Jr. (Monica) of Kennebunk, Maine.; his grandchildren, Alex Torrey of Chicago, Illinois, Julia Campo (Jeremy) of Bristol, Carolina Merritt of Lowell, Massachusetts and George W. Merritt III of Kennebunk, Maine.; and his sister Margaret Loucraft of Lowell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
