He is survived by: his children, Payson George, Jr. of Georgia, Cheryl Staples and Karen Appunn (Frank); his grandsons, Levi Staples, Andrew Staples (Diandra) and Carl Staples (Ginny); his nieces, Alison Hawes (Fred), Andrea Taylor (Dick), Darwood and Mary; and his close friends, Jim and Maryann Holland.
