Gordon C. Porter Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gordon C. Porter of Van Buren, Maine, who passed away on January 27, 2023, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family in the guestbook on this memorial page of Gordon C. Porter to show support.
He was a wonderful individual- never did he succumb to frowning, never did he utter a single word of despair. The bright side of life was all he looked to- and for that reason, it was impossible for any soul within his company to be ill at ease. He loved his wife with all his soul- and as certain things are so tremendous, that to write it down on paper would be a most foolish task, indeed, his love for his wife is one thing of this description- too tremendous as words cannot say. He was a wonderful father to his children, and a swell grandfather to his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, and took pride in his Eagle Scout's award.
Unfortunately, as a mere child, he had multiple health problems, and therefore he had to quit his job as a dental hygienist later in life- but he did not emerge from the profession with no treasure, for it was there he met his beloved wife, Diane.
Let those close to him not cry tears of sorrow- for though he may not be by their side in flesh and blood- but he shall always linger on within their memory- and if it is quite true that if people never die if remembered fondly- then he will never die.
He was predeceased by : his parents, Wallace Porter and Thelma Porter (Thibodeau); and his siblings-in-law, Romeo, Gertrude Powers, Norman Powers and Hobart Shackford.
He is survived by : his significant other Diane Porter (Powers); his children, Scott (Mildred), Kay (Vinny Sharpe) and Alex; his brother Norman (Paula); his grandchildren, Agatha, Brooklynn and Liam; and his siblings-in-law, Geneva Powers, Rudolph Powers (Vivian), Beatrice Dumais (Ralph), Lorraine Donahue (Robert) and Ann Shackford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
