He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Elmo Merrill III and Sarah Elizabeth Knowlton; his daughter Julieann Merrill; his stepson Ryan Toothaker; and his siblings, Marilyn Leathers, Ronnie Clark, Leroy Merrill, Lloyd "Buddy" Clark and Peter Schoen.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Merrill; his children, Robert Merrill II (Sherry) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Paul Lauze of Auburn, ME and Katie Tripp; his stepson James Toothaker; his siblings, Gene Merrill, Michael Burbeck, Philip Clark, Edwin Clark, Linda Short, Deborah Luna and Rhonda Freve; and his former wife Aggie Wilson. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
