She was predeceased by: her parents, Vinton C. Keene and Elizabeth M. Keene (Packard); her husbands, Raymond T. Gates and Lauren, Jr.; her son Kenneth Leighton Gilbert; her granddaughter Brandi Nelson; and her daughter-in-law MaryAnne Gates.
She is survived by: her children, Robert V. Gates of Houston, Barry J. Gates (Bobby Jean) of Turner, Lauren H. Gilbert, III (Janine) of Turner, Gerald E. Gilbert (Deborah) of Turner and Kathy J. Turner (Daniel) of Turner. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
