He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilena Robinson and Howard York Mitchell; and his siblings, Albert Mitchell, Ronald Mitchell and Mavis Cleary.

He is survived by: his wife Donna W. Mitchell; his children, Lauren Mitchell Spargo (Larry Pulk) of Temple, Debra Mitchell Parks (Neal) of Stark, N. H., Will Howard Mitchell (Lynn) of Ohio and Margaret Mitchell Staggs (Steven) of Winthrop; and his grandchildren, Courtney Bisson (Nelson), Rick Thurlow (Maria), Brock Mitchell (Courtney), Lisa Hargus (Simon), Michael Howard Mitchell (Mary), Sarina Mitchell Grant, Katelyn Mitchell Pond and Jenna Mitchell Pond. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

“Dear Donna and Family, I was so surprised to read Arthur's story in my PPH this morning. We were friends in Glastonbury. We kept in touch and then we lost touch after you had been back in Maine for awhile. My sympathy to you and your extended family. Dick and I moved to Maine after I retired in 2004. He passed in January 2019. This is sent with love and fond memories, Joanne Sullivan”
