He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Shirley Billings and Olive Estelle Billings; his sister Larna Wellman; and the mother of his children Donna Daye "Scamp" McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Anzie of Palm City; his daughters, Suzette Grindle and Sandra Shepard; his sons-in-law, Peter and Randy; and his grandchildren, Abigail of Deer Isle, Maine., Sam of Deer Isle, Maine., Morgan of Deer Isle, Maine. and Ethan of Deer Isle, Maine.. He is also survived by his nieces, cousins, as well as a list of friends and employees.
Together they laid the foundation that enabled Harlan to grow BDMS into "The Yard", one of the most well-regarded boatyards on the coast of Maine.
