She was predeceased by: her parents, Geraldine Fifield Austin Borden and Chester Ellsworth Borden; her husband Birger T. Johnson; and her former husband Richard P. Whitney. She is survived by: her children, Rear Admiral Mark R. Whitney and Professor Donna L. Whitney (Professor Marc Hirschmann); her stepsons, Kenton Johnson and Matthew Johnson; her grandchildren, Naomi Linda Whitney-Hirschmann, John T. and Austin G. Whitney; and her sisters, Joanne Moore (David) and Cynthia McKenney (Richard). She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
