He is survived by: his sister Dr. Susan Reid MacLennan (Doug) of Dover, NH; his sister-in-law Dr. Elaine Reid (Peter) of Dover, NH; his nieces and nephews, Sharon Reid Altmeyer (Mark), Hadley Reid, Christopher Reid and Thomas Reid (Shannon); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Sydney, Kalyn Altmeyer, Katherine Reid, Scott Altmeyer, Peter Reid and Jacob Reid.
His pathbreaking work made a profound contribution to our understanding of the development of law in the nascent American nation and transformed the way we understand the subject.
