He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Arvid Johnson and E. Frances Johnson (Wing); his wife Sheila DeCoteau; his brother-in-law John DeCoteau; his siblings, Barbara Zwicker (Charles) of Ottawa, Jan Ferry (John) of Portland and Scott Johnson (Cheryl) of South Carolina; and his sister-in-law Linda DeCoteau Toia of Pennsylvania. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
