He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Smith and Edith Smith (Hutchinson); and his brothers, Frank, Earl, Lee, Carl, Kerry (Kay) and Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his son Jason; and his siblings, Richard, David, Peter, Helen, June and Sandra. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
