He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl P. Bell and Bertha M. Kearney Bell; his former wife Mary I. Richards; his son John Michael Bell; his brother Lawrence E. Bell; and also Ernest Hammond.
He is survived by: his wife Jean M. Herbert; his son Robert E. Bell, Jr. (Teresa) of North Berwick; his stepchildren, Michael Herbert (Jody) of Rockland, Michelle Henry (Terrence) of Old Town and Kim Hammond of Rockland; and his grandchildren, Cameron Henry, Julie McArthur (Brian), Jennifer Lambertson (Kevin), Matthew Bell (Maria), Timothy Bell and Joseph Bell. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
