He was predeceased by: his parents, William H. Carleton and Carrie G. Raffa Carleton; his wife Janice Watts Carleton; and his siblings, Ann Barnard, Frances Ludwick, Grace Higgins and William Carleton, Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Sue; his son Jim Jr. (Sue) of Rockport; his granddaughters, Ashley Carleton of Rockport and Kayla Carleton Heal (Travis) of Rockland; his great grandchildren, Madison Shoudy, Emma and Colton Heal; and his friends, Stewart Rogers, Wilbur "Henry" Jacobs, Elmer Prentiss and Vince Pine. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
