He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Cheney and Anne Cheney (Dillon); his siblings, David Cheney, Anne Scott (Cheney) and Richard Cheney (Rip); and his close friend Samson.
He is survived by: his wife Terry Cheney; his children, Linsley Hews (Lewis) and David Cheney (Shari); his grandchildren, Jordan Wildeman (Shawn Rich), Lauren Fotter (Kenny), John Wildeman (Michael Brewer), Joshua Cheney (Alex), Gabriel Cheney (Chelsea), Hannah Pickens (Jake) and Claire Cheney (Evan Flewelling); his siblings, Louise DeLew (Bruce) and Philip Cheney (Elizabeth); and his brother-in-law Peter Scott.
